Towns and cities across Yorkshire
Yorkshire covers a lot of different ground, from the coast and flat plains in the east to the Pennine valleys in the west. The weather and the building stock change with it, and so does what we look for on your walls.
Wakefield
Close to Leeds and easy for us to reach. Mixed housing, with inter-war estates, former mining villages and newer builds around the city.
Huddersfield
Stone-built town centre and valley-side housing. Render usually sits on newer homes, extensions and estates on the surrounding slopes, where weather exposure is high.
Halifax and Calderdale
Steep valleys and a lot of stone. Rendered homes are often on the higher ground and newer estates, where the walls stay damp for long stretches.
Harrogate
A spa town with Victorian and Edwardian stone and brick houses, plus 20th-century suburbs. Render is common on newer extensions and on the suburban housing around the centre.
York
An historic city. Some older properties are in conservation areas or are listed, so we would always ask about any restrictions before we discuss a clean. Newer suburbs around the city are more straightforward.
Sheffield
A hilly, green city with a lot of trees. Shade and slope both matter on the quote, so photos from the back and any steep gardens help.
Rotherham and Barnsley
A mix of post-war estates, former mining villages and newer builds. Render and pebbledash are common on the estates.
Doncaster
Flatter and more open than the west of the county. Walls are more exposed to the wind but less damp than on the Pennine side.
Hull and East Riding
Low-lying and close to the coast and the Humber. Exposure to wind and damp air is a factor, and there is a lot of 20th-century and newer housing.
Questions about Yorkshire
How far from Leeds do you work in Yorkshire?
We work across Yorkshire, but the further from Leeds the more a job needs planning. Send your postcode and photos and we will tell you plainly whether we can do it and when.
Do you charge for quotes outside Leeds?
No. Quotes are free and there is no call-out fee wherever you are in our area.
Can you clean render on a listed building in York or Harrogate?
That needs care. Listed or conservation-area properties can have restrictions on what can be done to the walls, and older lime renders react differently to soft washing. Tell us what you know and we will be honest about whether it is something we should do.
